The Global Stage for Innovation in the Construction Industry

When massive cranes, high-tech construction equipment, and industry professionals from around the world take over Las Vegas at the beginning of March, it can only mean one thing: CONEXPO-CON/AGG has returned. In 2026, the Nevada desert once again became the hotspot of the global construction industry — with more than 2,000 exhibitors, around 140,000 trade visitors, and an impressive range of technologies spanning earthmoving equipment to heavy-duty lifting solutions.

But the show was far more than just a giant machinery exhibition. CONEXPO 2026 clearly demonstrated where the industry is heading: electrification, digital connectivity, and sustainable powertrain solutions were at the center of attention throughout nearly every exhibition hall. Many manufacturers presented machines that are not only more powerful and efficient, but also smarter and more sustainable than ever before.

At the same time, there was a genuine sense of momentum across the show floor. OEMs, technology partners, and customers engaged in intensive discussions about new applications, future requirements, and the next major development steps for the industry. That is exactly what has defined CONEXPO for years: it is not just a trade fair, but a global meeting point for the entire construction and off-highway sector.

For Mercedes-Benz Powertrain, the focus was not on a large standalone exhibition presence, but on customer applications. At CONEXPO, the technology became visible exactly where it is used in operation: in the machines and vehicles of OEM partners relying on engines, axles, and transmissions from Mercedes-Benz Powertrain.

Customers and Machines in the Spotlight

The focus at CONEXPO was clearly on the machines of international OEM partners — developed for the toughest operations worldwide and presented with a strong sense of pride.

Manitowoc and Tadano attracted particular attention. Lifting specialist Manitowoc presented new large cranes, well-known bestsellers, and expanded service offerings. One of the highlights was the premiere of the Grove GMK8700 — currently the most powerful model in the Grove portfolio.

Under the motto “Reaching New Heights,” Tadano showcased not only new all-terrain and crawler cranes, but also demonstrated how strongly its portfolio has evolved beyond traditional crane technology.

Deutz AG, meanwhile, used the stage in Las Vegas to present modern off-highway powertrain solutions. The focus was on high-performance engines such as the TCD 12.8, as well as topics including electrification, battery systems, and lifecycle management. It became clear that modern drive technologies today are about far more than engine performance alone.

Together, these companies symbolized an industry that successfully combines engineering expertise, experience, and technological innovation.

Collaboration as a Model for Success

CONEXPO also highlighted how closely OEMs and Mercedes-Benz Powertrain now work together. Modern powertrain technologies have long become an integral part of many machine concepts and are used globally across a wide variety of applications.

This close cooperation creates a continuous exchange between development, real-world operation, and ongoing optimization. New solutions are tested directly under real operating conditions before being integrated into the next generation of machines. It is precisely this close collaboration that ensures innovations find their way into practical application faster — while also enabling global scalability.

Conclusion

CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2026 impressively demonstrated how dynamically the international construction and off-highway industry continues to evolve. At the center of attention were machines developed for extreme loads, complex applications, and maximum reliability — and the companies driving these technologies forward with great passion. Presented with strong visibility and pride, these machines reflected a clear customer focus: engineered for the toughest operating conditions, continuously refined, and consistently aligned with the demands of construction sites around the world.

Once again, Las Vegas became the stage for state-of-the-art construction and lifting technology at the highest level. And one thing is already certain: CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2029 will continue along this path — with even more connected, efficient, and sustainable machine solutions.
